Apple Business Manager (ABM) is Apple’s free web-based portal for IT administrators to manage Apple devices, apps, and accounts. This guide explains the full enrollment process step by step, up to date as of August 2025.
1. Sign Up Your Organization
- Go to https://business.apple.com/signup.
- Select Get Started.
- Enter and review the following information:
- First and last name of the person enrolling on behalf of the organization.
Important: This must be a real, legal name. Entries such as “ITCoordinator” or “Apple Deployment” will be rejected and must be corrected. - Work email addressthat:
- Is not associated with an App Store or iCloud account.
- Has never been used as an Apple Account for any Apple service or website.
Note: This email becomes your initial administrator Managed Apple Account. Best practice: Create a dedicated address within the company domain (e.g.,
abm@company.com
). This ensures access remains with the company even if the enrolling individual leaves.- Organization name. Note: The name may be slightly updated during Apple’s verification process.
- Website URL (optional but recommended). Note: Providing a website can speed up Apple’s verification of your organization.
- First and last name of the person enrolling on behalf of the organization.
- Select whether you want to receive news and updates about Apple Business Essentials, then click Continue.
- Create and confirm a new password for your account.
- Select your region code and enter your phone number.
- You will receive a one-time verification code by email first.
- You will then receive a different verification code on your phone.
- Follow the remaining steps and click Get Started to begin using Apple Business Manager.
2. Verify Your Enrollment
After signing up, you must complete the verification process before gaining full access to ABM.
- Go to https://business.apple.com and sign in with your administrator account.
- Navigate to your Organization Settings and select Verify.
- Enter your organization’s Data Universal Numbering System (D-U-N-S®) Number.
To learn more or request a number, see Apple’s D-U-N-S Number lookup. - Enter verification contact details (name, email, and role/job title). Examples of accepted contacts include: CEO, CFO, or CTO. Apple will call this person to confirm your organization’s enrollment.
- Check your email for a message from Apple with subject line: “Your enrollment is in review.”
- During the review process:
- Apple will contact your verification contact to confirm the enrollment details.
- Ensure your email system allows messages from all
apple.com
domains. - If Apple calls, return missed phone calls quickly to avoid delays.
- Once your organization is approved:
- Sign in to ABM immediately.
- Create at least one additional Administrator.
Important: If you forget or lose the password for your only administrator account before creating another, you must use iforgot.apple.com to reset your password.
3. Best Practices and Tips
- Avoid Sundays: Apple Support is not available on Sundays. Start the process Monday–Friday to ensure help is available if needed.
- Verification timeline: Apple typically sends the verification email within 5–7 business days.
- If no email is received: Contact Apple Support or your Apple Authorized Reseller for assistance.
- Administrator accounts: Always create at least two administrator accounts to avoid being locked out.
- Shared admin email: Use a distribution email address (e.g.,
apple-admins@company.com
) for continuity when staff members leave.
